Firstly can I just say I absolutely love the cover of this book. It drew me in the minute I saw it. If I have seen this on the shelf I would have HAD to have bought it!



Night Marchers is a fantastic fantasy story involving Hawaiian mythology. Our protagonist, Emma, is forced to move to Hawaii with her father on a short time before her graduation. (Her father is a paranormal investigator). Not long after moving, she starts to experience very strange happenings, and even has a run in with one of the notorious beings known to the natives as the Night Marchers.


“I watch them march from the waste down, dozens upon dozens of spirits marching stoically not deviating from their path. I wonder how many of them sealed their fate by staring into a Night Marchers eyes.”

I like Emma, she is easy to connect with and tells the story very well. You meet several very interesting characters, Tristan and Kai actually being my favourites.


The only gripe I had with the book is that sometimes at the beginning of the story, things were repeated. I was simply put – being told the same thing several times within a couple of sentences. That soon stopped though, and afterwards, the writing style was great. It’s easy to follow and understand.



This author has the potential to write an amazing series, that is evidential by this first instalment, and I personally cannot wait to find out what happens next. If you want likeable characters, myths and legends, suspense, action, and feeling as though you are on tenterhooks at times.... this is the book for you.

Review by Jane - In search of Lucy by Lia Fairchild

With an alcoholic mother who was rarely around but prone to violent outbursts when she was, Lucy found herself being protector and carer for her younger sister Katie. Life was very difficult for the girls but while Katie grew up quite well adjusted and was able to meet someone and fall in love, things were not so easy for Lucy. Choosing to stay home to take care of Katie over going to college meant Lucy wasn’t able to fulfil her dreams so when Katie fell pregnant and moved away with her boyfriend Lucy was deeply hurt. The sisters didn’t speak for almost five years until Katie became ill and needed Lucy’s help.

Lucy was a likable and believable character who sometimes made silly choices and was most definitely not perfect. She had built a protective wall around herself, not letting anyone in and hating to ask for help. I could totally understand why she had that attitude, her start in life was really shitty, too many responsibilities too young made her have to grow up before her time. Of course it would mess with your head!! I’m glad she managed to put those demons to rest in the end, even though it was a long time coming.

Lia Fairchild clearly has the ability to tell a story, keeping her readers hooked with realistic dialogue and a steady pace . There were a few editing issues that I tried hard to ignore and because the story was so engaging they did not ruin the read.

The Greener Forest is a collection of short stories for children and adults alike.

The book is filled with beautiful poems, imaginative fantastical stories and stunning illustrations. Myself and my sister both read this book to my little niece over the last few days. We both really enjoyed delving into the authors imagination, visiting her locations and spending time with her wonderful assortment of characters.

I do think this is quite possibly a book that everyone, of any age would enjoy reading. If you have younger children and you enjoy reading to them, especially well illustrated books, this is definitely the one for you.

This would make a beautiful Christmas gift for your child to treasure for a lifetime.

Review by Lindsay, The Falcon and His Desert Rose

I knew I was going to enjoy this book as soon as I saw the cover. I have always loved anything and everything related to Egyptian lore, myth and history. This book has it all. From the first page I was sucked in and I was almost heartbroken when I reached the end.

The Falcon and His Desert Rose is nothing short of an amazing story. I don’t give out 5 star ratings that often anymore, but with this, if I could give it 6 stars, I would.

In some parts it kinda reminded me a little bit of The Mummy, which is also a Film I love.

George Lashers writing style is very easy to follow, descriptive to the point that still allows you to use your own imagination a little, and that of an experienced writer. He keeps you glued to the pages. As people know, I don’t delve into storylines unless necessary as I hate spoilers.

The story is a mixture of genres, including action, mythological, paranormal, political and more. The author merges these genres into a fantastic story which will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.

George you have a fantastic imagination!
