I Met A Demon by Petronela Ungureanu
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
As I sit writing this review I do genuinely feel awful. I have spoken with the author of this book after seeing it advertised on Facebook. The author was so friendly and a pleasure to speak with. But I do feel I need to be honest, as always.
This is not what I expected. It’s very short. I guess I should have really checked the length. I was curled up on my bed, thinking “any minute now, this gonna be realllly gooood!” But when I looked on my kindle after reading for a very short amount of time and found I was 77% done, I was really shocked. I was expecting a big story of a man’s encounter with a demon. (Again, this is my fault for not checking the length.)
The blurb lead me to believe I would love this book. It should have been right up my street since all this stuff, weird, wonderful, demonology etc, fascinates me.
It certainly isn’t chilling or scary, not in the slightest. There are problems with the tenses, and sometimes I had to read the same couple of sentences a few times to get it to stick in my head.
Over all, 2 stars, I’m an author myself and I know how much work goes into writing a story, fact or fiction. But to be honest, I was incredibly disappointed since this encounter with a supposed demon, read more like someone’s nightmare or images resulting from smoking a little too much. (I don't mean that to sound offensive).
